Aging, pregnancy, breast-feeding, and massive weight loss can take a toll on breast shape and position, making a woman feel less than her best. Thus, it is no surprise that breast enhancement is the number 1 cosmetic surgery performed year in and year out in the US.  This is certainly true for our practice, and it is Dr. John Pitman’s #1 procedure. His results are amazing. We love it when our patient’s tell us they had a breast exam and no one realized they had had prior surgery!  

 

Breasts are unique to an individual – no two are alike!  So. A surgeon now has a multitude of implant options to choose from, including using fat transfer for breast enhancement.  We strive for a look that is natural, perky, and pleasing with minimal scarring. Breast lift techniques have also rapidly evolved; and research shows that quite often these surgeries can lead to physiologic gains, not just cosmetic gains.  

 

For the patient with large breasts that are affecting the quality of life, we have many options.  Again, we strongly prefer the short scar techniques in virtually all cases.   All breast reduction techniques MUST be individualized to the patient, just like enhancement techniques, and again careful consultation is critical.  In some cases, liposuction alone, combined with internal ultrasonic methods, can give excellent results through 2 or 3 small hidden incisions. However, even in cases where a large “anchor” type incision is needed there are ways to shorten those scars so wearing feminine clothes becomes possible again.  

 

Over the years we have seen many patients who were dissatisfied from surgery done elsewhere and have developed many novel techniques to correct those results, whether they be poor implant 

positioning, prominent scars, or improper sizing.  In addition, we have extensive experience with implant issues including ruptured implants, and have seen good results correcting those issues as well.

 

Finally, the use of implantable tissues such as Alloderm, have revolutionized implant malposition and in some cases has helped patients with implant encapsulation problems.
